IN A WORLD WHERE EVERYONE LOOKS THE SAME, HOW DO YOU CHOOSE A MATE?

CLAUSE 451 takes place in a parallel universe, a world on the outside not dissimilar to our own, but on the inside very different, a world where cloning is the norm, heterosexuality is outlawed on pain of death and homosexuality is the expected way, all females look identical as do all males, except for the servant class of midgets.

The story takes place in an English county house on the weekend of the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, LINDA and CLARISSE join Senator FABIAN and his partner GUY at their country seat, other residents of the house are FRANCOIS, FABIAN’S female sectary and MONTAG their midget butler.

As the weekend unfolds tension over the Missile Crisis grows by the hour. It turns out that CLARISSE and GUY are lovers, a deadly affair under CLAUSE 451 not just for them but their partners to, as the same punishment of death is metered out to partners of heterosexual loves as if it was their own transgression. We watch as the plot twists and weaves around the main protagonists as they play this deadly game, driven by a love that dares not speak its name, as their fates and the fate of their world hangs on a knife edge.

Our aims and ambition with CLAUSE 451 is to bring thought-provoking, visually stimulating SCI-FI back to British film, in the vain of great Sci-Fi dramas of the 60’s and early 70’s.
